ABOUT ME

Good day! My name is Nigel, I am a junior Industrial designer from the Gold Coast who specializes in furniture and lighting design. My main ethos of product design are UCD (user centred design) and sustainability, with a sound understanding of the design process and use of natural materials and processes, I believe in honest design that aims to evoke the user’s senses each time they interact with any of my products. I am a team-oriented individual who is hungry to learn off my senior team members whilst supporting in any tasks I am required to do.

I believe in design that enhances a user’s experience and relationship with the product by forming a basis of connection between the two. I work on products that aim to improve a person’s everyday experiences and helps them save time by automating some of the daily activities people do using products.

With my Major being Industrial/Product design, I minored in Business & Entrepreneurship to help aid my design consultancy skills. During my four-year study at Griffith University QCA, I was privileged to be exposed to leading industry professionals in sectors such as CAD modelling, 3D Printing, HCD, biomimicry design, furniture & lighting design to mention just a few. These industry professionals played key roles in mentoring & influencing my design style. I nurtured my talent by acquiring more hands-on research-based skills in implementing UCD and developed a more theoretical and structured approach to designing products. This was done by having to handle multiple project deadlines at once, collaborative group work and understanding that design is an interconnected system featuring diverse sectors like engineering, manufacturing, marketing & branding, and communication design in order to make each project successful.

I believe each new day is a fresh opportunity to continue learning and improving yourself to be better than yesterday.

Let’s connect and possibly work together in the future!
